Who can participate? How KyivLEPP helps to develop solutions for problems in access to justice?
For the third year in a row, the program announces recruitment of ideas for teams from different countries. The key criterion for selecting a team is a detailed innovative idea aimed at solving a legal problem relevant to the applicant country.
After a five-day incubation of the idea through a design thinking methodology and a crash test of prototype ideas, the teams will come up with ready-made solutions. Those teams who successfully passed the crash-test will receive modest grants for their idea implementation, and mentorship support.
The program is open to:
- representatives of legal aid organizations, lawyers, students, teachers of legal clinics,
- paralegals, mediators, social workers,
- representatives of HIV-vulnerable groups,
- community leaders, activists, representatives of local self-government bodies,
- representatives of ministries, state agencies, institutions,
- legal tech specialists (low / zero level coding experience).
The team should include at least two representatives from different sectors in the field of access to justice. The application must be submitted here by October 31, 2021. 5 teams from different countries will be selected. The course of design thinking will take place 5 days from 6 to 20 December at agreed dates.
During the existence of KyivLEPP, teams from Argentina, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Poland, Ukraine, Northern Macedonia and Kenya took part in the program. Almost all of their ideas were implemented.
Ukrainian Legal Aid Foundation, Coordination Centre for Legal Aid Provision, Legal Development Network, Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, PRAVOKATOR.Kyiv legal club and Human Rights and Justice program of the International Renaissance Foundation together created the #KyivLEPP design-thinking course.
