The Kyiv Legal Empowerment Practical Program enables intellectual cooperation of the experts in access to justice from all over the world on an annual basis. The purpose of the Programme is to find and pilot the viable, innovative and human-focused practical solutions for access to justice with an account of the national context.
While commenting on the event, Roman Romanov, the Director of the Human Rights and Justice Programme of the International Renaissance Foundation, emphasized the importance of the exchange of experience among the countries to understand the causes and pre-conditions for intellectual breakthroughs in access to justice.
Last year, the teams from Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan and Argentina exchanged their experience and best practices in access to justice for six days, discussed the issues and developed algorithms for solution thereof last year.
This year, Kyiv LEPP Programme 2020 will invite the national teams made of the representatives of the institutions and communities working with access to justice:
- Paralegals, mediators, care workers and community activists;
- Representatives of patient and parent communities, vulnerable and marginalized communities;
- Leaders of the local communities (municipalities, local authorities, etc.):
- Government and non-government legal aid provides; attorneys;
- Representatives of the Ministries and state agencies.
The competitive selection for participation in the Programme is going to start soon; thorough preparations are underway. The Programme has been implemented by the Ukrainian Access to Justice School of Practice since 2019. The Programme Council of the Kyiv LEPP Programme at the School include the representatives of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the Coordination Centre for Legal Aid Providing and Pravokator Law Clubs, the Ukrainian Legal Aid Foundation, the International Renaissance Foundation, and the Legal Development Network.
